🥩 Onion and Cumin Beef Stir-Fry
Quick, bold, and packed with flavor — a perfect weeknight dinner!
👉Ingredients:
◾️1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
◾️1 large onion, sliced
◾️2 cloves garlic, minced
◾️1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
◾️1 tbsp cumin seeds
◾️1 tsp ground cumin
◾️1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
◾️2 tbsp soy sauce
◾️1 tbsp oyster sauce
◾️1 tbsp vegetable oil
◾️Salt & black pepper to taste
◾️Fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)
👉Directions:
↪️1. Marinate the beef
In a bowl, toss the sliced beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1/2 tsp ground cumin. Let it marinate for 15–20 minutes while you prep the rest of your ingredients.
↪️2. Heat the oil
Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
↪️3. Cook the beef
Add the beef to the hot skillet and stir-fry until browned, about 2–3 minutes. Don’t overcrowd the pan. Remove and set aside.
↪️4. Sauté aromatics
In the same skillet, add garlic, ginger, and cumin seeds. Stir for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
↪️5. Add onion
Add sliced onion and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until slightly soft but still crisp.
↪️6. Combine everything
Add the cooked beef back in. Stir in the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, red pepper flakes, and season with salt and pepper.
↪️7. Serve
Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired. Serve hot with rice or noodles.
✅ 3 Quick Tips:
🔸 Slice against the grain: This keeps your beef tender and easy to chew.
🔸 Don’t skip the cumin seeds: They give a warm, toasty flavor that really makes this dish unique.
🔸 Prep everything first: Stir-frying happens fast — have all your ingredients ready before you start cooking.
