A simple, satisfying comfort food that combines creamy mashed potatoes with savory ground meat for a delicious family meal.
Ingredients
For the Meat Filling:
1 lb (450g) ground beef or turkey
1 medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup (150g) mixed vegetables (frozen or fresh – peas, carrots, corn)
1/2 cup (120ml) tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
1/4 cup (60ml) beef or chicken broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp dried thyme or oregano
Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the Mashed Potatoes:
4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup (120ml) milk or heavy cream
2 tbsp butter
1/2 cup (50g) shredded cheddar or mozzarella (optional)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the Topping:
1/2 cup (50g) shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or parmesan)
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
