Ingredients

For the Homemade Meatloaf:

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 500 g (1 lb 2 oz) ground beef
  • 500 g (1 lb 2 oz) ground pork
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • Olive oil, for sautéing
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 100 g (3.5 oz) ham, chopped
  • 70 g (2.5 oz) salami, chopped
  • Bunch of parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • A few dashes of hot sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian herbs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 350 g (12.3 oz) bacon

For the Tomato Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • A drop of hot sauce
  • Black pepper, to taste
