Cleaning the toilet can be a daunting task, but it’s unavoidable, especially when you have a heavily calcified bowl and a toilet seat that’s yellowed from use. However, it is possible to find bright white toilets in a short time and without much effort. Discover how to remove yellow stains from the bottom of the bowl with these 3 natural and economical products.

Over time and with use, toilet bowls become larger. The bottom of the bowl is covered with unsightly yellow or brown stains, which can also cause bad odours. However, there are simple and effective tips   for cleaning the toilet   and keeping the bowl always clean and white.

Why does the bottom of the bucket turn yellow?

Toilet water is hard water, also called hard water. In fact, it is rich in minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, responsible for the formation of limestone. When this water stagnates in the container, it promotes the formation of scale.  These unsightly yellow or brown spots are deposits of scale.

Please note that scale does not only invade our toilets, but also all our appliances that use hard water. In addition to being unsightly,   limescale deposits lead to excessive energy consumption.

How to find a white bowl?

To remove the yellow stains that cover the walls of the bowl, 3 ingredients come into play: baking soda, white vinegar and salt.

Will need:

  • 4 tablespoons baking soda
  • 3 tablespoons of salt
  • 1 glass of white vinegar

This preparation costs less than one euro and can be used for up to a month.

Generously sprinkle baking soda on the sides and bottom of the container. Then sprinkle the salt over the same surfaces covered with baking soda. Let it sit for a few minutes and pour the white vinegar over the stained areas. Leave it for an hour to allow the mixture to act better on the tartar deposits. Then scrub the yellow stains with the toilet brush and flush the toilet.
