Dirty oven glass, the natural remedy to keep it as shiny and clean as before

Cleaning the oven is important, especially if you use it frequently to cook different types of food. Some foods stain because they splash on the glass and walls, and others have strong odors that are difficult to remove with a quick cloth.

Having a dirty oven is obviously not pleasant  or satisfying for anyone. Therefore, to ensure that you cook with a 100% sanitized appliance, free of germs and bacteria, it is advisable to follow some tips that are sure to change the life of any housewife in the world.

We know that  cleaning any part of the oven is difficult,  also because it is already a problem to find the right products, but it is not impossible. All you need to do is search and try, test after test you will find the ideal product.

To clean the oven, is it better to use the indicated chemicals or natural products?

There are those who buy  products suitable for the care of their home oven  and those who only rely on the use of natural ingredients that allow them to obtain the best results without polluting the environment. As for the products indicated for cleaning the oven, you have to be careful, because they do not rinse well, so it is difficult to remove all residues of the product. In this case, you run the risk of cooking in an oven still impregnated with toxic and harmful detergents.

To ensure that it lasts a long time,  it is advisable to take care of it and maintain it  . One of the difficult parts to degrease is the glass. You can spend hours there, cleaning, spraying products, polishing, etc. The result is not always what you would like to achieve and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. This may happen because the wrong products are used or because it has been neglected over time.

To clean the oven you can use the classic grandmother’s remedies that allow you to remove dirt stains, leaving the glass, as well as the interior, shiny, clean and fragrant. The first two natural products  are vinegar and baking soda.  You need 4 or 5 tablespoons of baking soda and a little white vinegar.

Mix everything until you obtain a homogeneous and creamy mixture, which you spread over the glass. Then rub it with a soft sponge. Finally, leave it to act for 10-15 minutes.

If there are any stubborn stains, heat the oven to a maximum of 40-50 degrees and then proceed to clean it.  Obviously, you should wait for it to cool down a little  before cleaning it, so as not to burn yourself.

Emergency cleaning, such as removing scale.

For emergency cleaning  , and therefore for stains that are difficult to dissolve with baking soda, we recommend using a good degreaser that will soften all the incrustations.

Dish detergent is also fine, but you have to dilute it in water and not use it like  we do for dishes,  otherwise it takes too long to rinse and there is no guarantee that it will be rinsed very well in the end.

Why glass also gets dirty on the inside and how to proceed with cleaning

The oven glass is insulated, i.e. there is double glazing, which has a  space between the two panes  . Then there are the side dishes, which are often consumed and therefore let drops of sauce or any other dish that is cooked through. This means that the glass gets dirty not only on the outside, but also on the inside. So classic cleaning is not only useless, but also becomes frustrating, because you keep scrubbing for no reason.

In this case, it will indeed be necessary to remove the double glass and proceed to clean the inside. The first thing to do is to make sure that the oven is off, then open the door, stop the hinges, remove the screws, lift it upwards and slowly remove the glass.  Then clean it with any soft cloth.

As for disassembly, you have to be careful because not all ovens are the same, so  it is advisable to read the instruction manual  to avoid making mistakes and damaging the appliance. However, to clean the inside of the glass you can use a mixture of water, bicarbonate, vinegar and salt. Once cleaning is finished, put the glass back in its place, making sure it is properly inserted.
