I Thought They Were Just Curious Deer — Until I Realized What Was Really Watching Me

I live on the edge of a quiet forest, the kind of place where nature feels close enough to touch. Deer wander through the yard almost daily, pausing just long enough to assess whether I’m a threat before leaping away.

So when I began noticing a pair of glowing eyes at the tree line every evening, I didn’t think much of it.

I thought they were just curious deer.

But I was wrong.
Very wrong.

🌲 The First Signs Something Was Off

At first, the behavior seemed normal — animals wandering, stopping, staring. But after a few days, I noticed something strange:

  • The eyes appeared every night

  • They never moved like deer

  • They were too still, too silent

  • They always seemed to be… waiting

I shrugged it off. Country life teaches you not to panic at every noise.

But then things escalated.

👣 Unexplained Tracks in the Yard

One morning, I walked outside and found large footprints pressed into the damp earth. They weren’t deer tracks. They were:

  • Longer than human footprints

  • Deeper than a typical step

  • Leading straight toward my house, stopping right under the window

My stomach dropped.
Something had been standing right there — watching.

That night, I left the porch light on. But the eyes returned, glowing from the forest like two cold lanterns.

This time, they felt closer.

🔊 The Sound That Changed Everything

Around midnight, I heard it.

A low, guttural sound — not quite a growl, not quite a moan — drifting through the trees. It wasn’t the sound of an animal I recognized.

The hairs on my arms rose instantly.

Deer don’t make noises like that.
And deer certainly don’t stalk houses for days.

I grabbed a flashlight and shined it toward the woods.

For the first time, the eyes blinked.

And then the shape stepped forward.

🦌 Not Deer — Something Bigger

The creature that emerged wasn’t a deer at all.
It was tall — far taller than any human — with long limbs and a gaunt frame. Its skin looked pale, almost stretched, and its movements were jerky, unnatural.

It stared at me with those glowing eyes, not moving, not breathing, just watching.

My heart thundered.
Whatever this thing was, it wasn’t curious.
It wasn’t lost.
It wasn’t harmless.

It had been studying me.

🏃‍♂️ I Ran — And It Followed

As soon as I backed toward the door, the creature took a step. A second. A third.

Not fast — but deliberate.

It wanted me to know it was coming.

I slammed the door, locked it, and turned off every light in the house. The only sound was my own breathing… until the creaking started.

Something was walking around my porch.
Slow, scraping steps.
Then a long, dragging sound like fingers gliding across the siding.

I didn’t sleep at all that night.

🌅 The Morning Revealed the Truth

When the sun finally rose, the creature was gone — but the evidence remained.

Scratches on the porch railing.
Deep gouges in the wood.
And the worst part:

Two enormous handprints on the window glass.

That was the last night I ever mistook those glowing eyes for deer.

Whatever watched me wasn’t curious — it was hunting.

And I don’t think it’s finished.
