I was sure my aunt’s recipe was gone, but I found it and it’s even more delicious
8 ounces halloumi cheese
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Lemon wedges for serving
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Lemon wedges for serving
Directions
Slice the halloumi cheese into 1/2-inch thick slices.
Heat the olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
Place the halloumi slices in the skillet and sprinkle with dried oregano and black pepper.
Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Remove from the skillet and serve immediately with lemon wedges.
Variations & Tips
For a bit of spice, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the halloumi before frying. You can also experiment with different herbs like thyme or rosemary for a unique flavor profile. If you prefer a smoky taste, try grilling the halloumi instead of pan-frying it. For a touch of sweetness, drizzle a bit of honey over the finished dish. Remember, halloumi is quite salty, so adjust any additional seasoning to your taste.
