Introduction
A clogged drain is a problem that any of us can encounter. Not only does it make daily use of the sink or basin difficult, but it can also cause an unpleasant odor in the home. Fortunately, there is a simple, effective, and environmentally friendly way to solve this problem without having to call a plumber or use harsh chemicals.
Ingredients
1 cup baking soda
1 cup of vinegar (white or apple)
Hot water (about 2-3 liters)
Optional: lemon juice to neutralize the
vinegar smell
Drain Preparation: Make sure the drain is reasonably dry. You can dry it with a paper towel or let it dry for a few minutes.
Adding the soda: Pour one cup of baking soda directly down the drain.
Adding vinegar: Slowly pour a cup of vinegar down the drain. The chemical reaction between the soda and vinegar will cause intense effervescence, which will dissolve any remaining impurities.
Wait: Let the mixture sit for 15 to 30 minutes to work well on deposits and debris.
Rinse with water: Once the time has elapsed, slowly pour hot water down the drain. Make sure the water flows freely.
Optional: If you want to get rid of the vinegar smell, you can squeeze the juice of half a lemon down the drain and flush again.
