One of the most common mistakes is charging too much of the dishwasher to save a washing cycle. Filling it excessively can block the correct circulation of water and detergents, preventing optimal cleaning. It always leaves enough space between the dishes and the utensils, so that the water can reach all surfaces.
Use too much detergent
Adding an excessive amount of detergent does not improve the effectiveness of the washing and can, on the contrary, cause residue that accumulates on the plates and inside the dishwasher. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions on the dosage and consider that many modern dishwashers are designed to work with less detergent than what we imagine.
Do not clean filters regularly
Dishwasher filters need to be cleaned regularly to keep the appliance efficient. When the filters are clogged, the water does not flow properly and food residues can accumulate, compromising hygiene and increasing consumption. A quick rinse of the filter at least once a week will help to keep your dishwasher in excellent condition.
Don’t pay attention to the arrangement of dishes
The efficiency of the washing also depends on how you arrange the dishes. For example, the dirtier dishes should be placed at the bottom, where water jets are more powerful. Plastic objects, on the other hand, should be placed in the upper basket to avoid the risk of deformation due to heat.
Do not perform a periodic vacuum washing
Another common mistake is to forget to perform a vacuum wash. This cycle, to be done once a month, helps to remove food residue, limescale and other deposits that can accumulate over time. Using vinegar or a dishwasher product in an empty cycle keeps the appliance clean and extends its life.
