- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Puff Pastry:
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
- Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the pastry (if using).
- Add Ham and Cheese:
- Layer the sliced ham evenly over one half of the puff pastry.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the ham.
- Fold and Seal:
- Fold the other half of the pastry over the ham and cheese to form a rectangle.
- Press the edges firmly to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
- Cut and Prepare:
- Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the pastry into squares or rectangles.
- Place the pieces on the prepared baking sheet.
- Apply Egg Wash:
- Brush the tops of the pastry squares with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added texture and flavor (optional).
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
