  • Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the Puff Pastry:
    • Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
    • Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the pastry (if using).
  • Add Ham and Cheese:
    • Layer the sliced ham evenly over one half of the puff pastry.
    • Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the ham.
  • Fold and Seal:
    • Fold the other half of the pastry over the ham and cheese to form a rectangle.
    • Press the edges firmly to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
  • Cut and Prepare:
    • Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the pastry into squares or rectangles.
    • Place the pieces on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Apply Egg Wash:
    • Brush the tops of the pastry squares with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
    • Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added texture and flavor (optional).
  • Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  • Serve:
    • Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
