Kitchen Equipment You’ll Need

  • Serrated bread knife
  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Aluminum foil
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 (16 oz.) package sour cream, room temperature
  • 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, room temperature
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 cup ham, diced or sliced
  • 1 tablespoon preferred hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 loaf French bread
  • Crackers, optional
  • Green onions, garnish

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350º F.
  2. Using a serrated bread knife, carefully cut out the center of the French loaf, ensuring the bottom remains intact to hold the dip.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the sour cream and cream cheese until smooth.
  4. Add the hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder to the mixture and stir well.
  5. Fold in the grated cheddar cheese and diced ham until evenly distributed.
  6. Spoon the mixture into the hollowed-out bread loaf.
  7. Wrap the filled loaf in aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven.
  8. Bake for 35 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  9. Once baked, remove from the oven, garnish with diced green onions, and serve with the reserved bread pieces and crackers.
