1 pound ground beef

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup coarsely chopped onion

1 egg

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Mushroom Gravy:

1/4 cup butter

8 ounces sliced mushrooms

1/4 cup coarsely chopped onion

2 garlic cloves, minced

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

4 ounces beef stock

1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

Prepare the Salisbury Steak:

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Mix until well combined and shape the mixture into oval patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

Cook the Salisbury Steak:

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side or until browned and cooked through.

Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Mushroom Gravy:

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and sliced mushrooms, and cook until the onion is softened and the mushrooms are browned.

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
