1. Prepare the Turmeric Rice:

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil or butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the rinsed rice to the pan and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, allowing the rice to lightly toast.
  4. Add the 2 cups of water (or chicken broth for extra flavor), turmeric, cumin (if using), and salt. Stir to combine.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pan.
  6. Simmer for 15-18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat and fluff the rice with a fork. Set aside.

2. Cook the Salmon:

  1. Season the salmon fillets with salt, pepper, and a drizzle of lemon juice (optional).
  2. Heat 2 tbsp of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the salmon fillets to the pan, skin-side down if applicable. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, until the salmon is golden brown on the outside and cooked through in the center (the internal temperature should reach 145°F or 63°C).
  4. Remove the salmon from the skillet and set aside. Tent with foil to keep warm.

3. Make the Creamy Garlic Parmesan Sauce:

  1. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add 2 tbsp of butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine with the garlic and butter. Let the mixture simmer for 3-4 minutes to thicken slightly.
  3. Add the grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
  4. Return the salmon to the skillet, spooning some of the sauce over the top. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until heated through and the salmon is coated with the creamy sauce.

4. Serve:

  1. Serve the salmon fillets on a plate, spooning extra creamy garlic Parmesan sauce over the top.
  2. Serve with the vibrant turmeric rice on the side, and garnish the salmon with fresh parsley if desired.

Tips:

  • Rice alternatives: If you don’t have basmati rice, you can use any long-grain rice. Quinoa or cauliflower rice could also be great alternatives.
  • Make it lighter: For a lighter sauce, you can substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half or use a combination of cream cheese and chicken broth for a lower-fat option.
  • Extra veggies: You can serve this dish with sautéed spinach, roasted vegetables, or a side salad for added nutrients and color.

This Creamy Garlic Parmesan Salmon with Turmeric Rice is the perfect balance of rich, creamy flavors with the subtle warmth of turmeric rice, making it a beautiful and satisfying meal. Enjoy!
