Grinch Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 box vanilla cake mix (about 15.25 oz)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Green food coloring (gel or liquid)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)
- Red heart sprinkles or candy hearts
Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the vanilla cake mix, softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- Add green food coloring a few drops at a time, mixing until you achieve the perfect “Grinch green” shade. 🎨
2️⃣ Chill the Dough
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This helps the dough firm up and makes it easier to roll.
3️⃣ Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
4️⃣ Shape the Cookies
- Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls.
- Roll each ball in powdered sugar, ensuring they’re fully coated.
- Place the balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
5️⃣ Bake
- Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
- Remove from the oven and immediately press a red heart sprinkle onto the center of each cookie while they’re still warm.
6️⃣ Cool and Serve
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
- Serve and watch hearts grow three sizes bigger! 💚
