Caramelized Apple Spice Cake
Ingredients:

- 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
For the Cake:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk (or substitute with regular milk mixed with 1/2 tsp lemon juice)
- 1/4 cup sour cream or plain yogurt

- 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions:
1. Caramelize the Apples:
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the sliced apples and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they begin to soften.
