Prepare the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk mixture and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Add the salt, egg, and softened butter to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
Gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
Form the Donuts:
After the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles.
Divide the dough into 12 equal parts. Roll each part into a ball.
Roll out each ball slightly and use your fingers or a small cutter to create a hole in the center, forming a donut shape.
Place the shaped donuts on a baking sheet and cover them with a cloth. Let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Fry the Donuts:
Heat a large amount of oil in a deep fryer or a heavy-bottomed pot to 175°C (350°F).
Carefully add the donuts to the hot oil, a few at a time, making sure not to overcrowd the pot.
Fry each donut for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown.
Use a slotted spoon to remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Finish and Serve:
While the donuts are still warm, sprinkle them generously with sugar.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
Serving Suggestions:
Enjoy the donuts as they are or with a cup of coffee or tea.
You can also dip them in melted chocolate or glaze for an extra sweet treat.
Cooking Tips:

Ensure the oil is at the correct temperature before frying to achieve a perfect golden brown color.
If you prefer, you can use a donut cutter to make the shaping easier.
